Atypical Parkinson’s Diseases

(The Same Group as MSA) 

​MSA belongs to a group known as Atypical Parkinsonism, sometimes called Parkinson-plus syndromes. These include:

  • Multiple System Atrophy (MSA)

  • Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP)

  • Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD)

  • Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB)​

  • What these conditions share:

  • Faster progression than typical Parkinson’s disease

  • Poor or limited response to levodopa

  • Early balance, speech, and autonomic problems

  • Neurodegeneration beyond dopamine-producing neurons
